We Love Fibre

Fibre supplements have a reputation for being just for old people and keeping you ‘regular’. This is not at all true.  We should all be aiming to hit our daily fibre intake as fibre is so important in maintaining our overall health.  Taking a fibre supplement, along with a healthy diet, is a great way to minimise your likelihood of developing heart disease.

Research has shown that eating a diet high in fibre can help lower your risk of developing heart disease. In fact, one study found that for every 7 grams of fibre you eat per day, your risk of heart disease goes down by 9%! So, if you want to take care of your heart, it's definitely worth upping your fibre intake.

Fibre helps lower your cholesterol levels. When you eat soluble fibre (psyllium husk contains both soluble and insoluble fibre), it binds to the "bad" cholesterol in your body and prevents it from getting into your bloodstream. This can help keep your cholesterol levels in check and protect your heart.

Fibre can also help regulate your blood pressure, which is another big factor in heart health. Eating lots of fibre (think fruit, veges and whole grains) can help your body get rid of excess sodium, which can raise your blood pressure. By keeping your blood pressure in a healthy range, you're reducing your risk of heart disease too.

Adults should aim for at least 25-30 grams of fibre per day, but most of us don't get nearly enough. Eating more fruits, veggies, whole grains and nuts helps support better heart health.  An easy way to boost your fibre intake and take care of your heart at the same time is to add No.2 Good Gut Fibre products into your daily routine.  LOVE No.2 xx
